About

Hello!

About me

I am Andrei Savolainen, designer, living in Helsinki Finland with my wife and 2 years old daughter.

For past decade I've been working in mobile, game and service design industries as graphic, visual and UX/service designer. I love to solve problems, help people and that is which keeps me going in my work.

Apart from the daily work my interests lie in few things. Naturally, most of my free time is consumed at the moment with the family activities and playing around with my daughter, but whenever I truly have free time for myself, most likely I do either sports or browse through art (magazines, pinterest, deviantart), or draw something myself. And at the moment I draw more than ever and that is because of this blog and the "50 days drawing project".

What this blog is about

Where this whole blog thing started was the idea of self-improvement. I always liked to draw, but never spent too much time on it to seriously improve myself. Never went to the art school but for past years, I've been playing around with the idea of making drawing something else than it is now - a hobby. I guess it was some kind of opposing force to my work, where the design is mostly rational, defined, has boundaries set by the client, project and the designer hardly ever draws anything by hand.

So, 50 days. Such a short time actually. The ideas is to draw every Monday-to-Friday something, traditional, digital. To produce something every day, make mistakes. Learn. Get used, familiar with drawing. Making it a second nature or at least to make it more familiar and see what will happen when this project will be over.

Here's the link to the day-1 of the project:
